Les communautés au Canada: le passé et l’avenir Part 3: is the third part in the Communities in Canada, Past and Present series. This engaging unit supports Ontario Grade 6 teachers in implementing Strand B of the 2018 Ontario Social Studies Curriculum. This unit is the French version of the original resource, with teacher lesson plans written in English, while student texts and organizers are written in French.
This Part 3 resource deals with the important events in the development of various communities. Students are supported as they explore the historical significance of various events in 4 communities using specific criteria. As well, attention is paid to the causes and consequences of these events. The final inquiry task for this resource asks students to determine which events in a particular community are most significant, and use evidence to support their ideas, as well as to determine the consequences of the event.
