This Communities in Canada, Past and Present: Part 1 – Moving From One Community to Another resource is intended to support the 2018 Ontario Social Studies Curriculum for Grade 6. This FRENCH version is structured so that all student text and graphic organizers are written in French, while teacher notes are written in English. This would be an ideal resource for a French Immersion classroom!

Students will inquire into the various reasons people move from one community to another in historical and contemporary Canada, using Q-charts to assist them in formulating to guide their investigations. Complete lessons plans and teacher notes, along with student-friendly text, make this unit an engaging and productive resource.

Students will explore the following communities:

  • Winnipeg
  • Attawapiskat
  • Early Black Communities
  • Europeans in New France.
