This Enjeux, personnes et événements en Nouvelle-France et dans d’autres communautés canadiennes unit is meant to support the Strand A Heritage and Identity Ontario Social Studies Curriculum for Grades 5 and 6. The two Ontario units being covered are:
• Grade 5: Interactions of Indigenous Peoples and Europeans Prior to 1713
• Grade 6: Communities in Canada, Past and Present
PLEASE NOTE: This is the French Immersion version of this unit. This version contains teacher lesson plans and notes in English, while all student texts and templates have been translated into French. In September 2019 this entire unit was re-edited by a skilled FI teacher to correct any previous spelling, grammar or syntax issues in the first translation.
This is a COMBINED grade unit, meaning that it has been carefully created to blend the key expectations so that teachers are able to teach one lesson to both grades. Eleven detailed 3-part lessons are included in this resource, with each lesson taking either 1 or 2 class periods to complete. In addition, the culminating event for the unit is a series of debates, and a full plan has been provided for this event.
Altogether, this resource provides up to 20 days of lessons, depending upon how you decide to implement the unit.
Included in this resource are:
• Full lesson plans
• Grade-Level Appropriate Student Text Pages
• Learning Goals
• Assessment Tools
• Students Tasks and Templates
