This The Role of Government and Responsible Citizenship resource supports the revised 2018 Ontario Social Studies Curriculum for Grade 5, Strand B. This French Immersion version has been translated and edited by two Ontario FI teachers. While lesson plans are in the original English, all student texts and graphic organizers are in French.

This inquiry based unit has been fully updated to meet all curriculum expectations, and allows students to work on social and environmental issues of interest to them. Along the way they will be recording their new learning in an Action Plan flipbook, while also working towards a culminating task that allows students to explain how they feel different levels of government should handle an important issue.
Teachers are provided with three-part lesson plans, student-friendly texts, flipbook templates, and assessment tools.
