Q&A
What does “blended learning” mean?
I have used the term blended learning to indicate that my resource has blended the overall expectations and big ideas of the Ontario social studies curriculum, finding the commonalities and building a unit from there. Teachers are able to teach ONE lesson to both grades, with each grade focusing on a different aspect of the blended big ideas.
Are the curriculum expectations included?
I have used the specific social studies expectation codes (ie. A2.3) to ensure that teachers understand which expectations are being focused on for each lesson.
What assessment tools are used?
I have included rubrics, success criteria, exit tickets and quizzes to help teachers assess student progress.
Will this bundle require a lot of photocopying?
While 392 pages likely seems a bit daunting, there’s no need to worry. Every students does NOT require a copy of every student text, as students work on different tasks. For example, when exploring the 7 physical regions of Canada in Strand B, the regions are divided amongst the class. After students have learned about their regions, they share their learning with the rest of the class.
Is there a digital version of this bundle?
