Are you looking for an interactive activity to teach your students about fractions, decimals, or percentages on a number line? Download my Number Line Activity for Fractions, Decimals, and Percentages for a high-quality resource to help teach the following concepts: proper fractions, improper and mixed fractions, decimals, percentages, connections between various numerical representations, and determining the “whole” of a fraction. This resource is perfect to use as a diagnostic activity at the beginning of a unit, a review activity to reinforce skills, or as a culminating task at the end of a unit. You can also use it as test prep and for math centers!
This rich mathematical activity provides multiple entry points for students to begin the task, and as they work together to create a number line, they will be involved in deep conversations about the mathematical concepts. With this resource, teachers can choose from 48 crisp images and 48 number cards and decide which will work best for their particular students as they work together to develop a number line. Younger students can work with representations between 0 and 1, while older students can be given cards with representations up to 2 or 3 (i.e. 12/10 or 150%). A detailed lesson plan is included, along with examples of student work. Bonus: You can prep this activity once and use it year after year!
