Ontario Grade 6 teachers, stop worrying about your social studies program! This Communities in Canada Past and Present Bundle is a comprehensive resource addressing the revised 2023 Ontario Social Studies Curriculum for Grade 6, Strand A. This bundle allows you and your students to delve deeply into various historical and modern-day Canadian communities, with prepared lesson plans that cut your planning WAY down!!
Students are provided with many opportunities to explore the experiences and perspectives of diverse communities in historical and contemporary Canada, and how they contributed to the development of Canadian identity. Particular attention is paid to the issues and perspectives of Canada’s Indigenous community, which is emphasized heavily in the revised curriculum. I have worked with an experienced teacher in the area of Indigenous education as I revised these units. This bundle contains five sections, which you can take a closer look at by clicking on the links above. ***Part 4 of the bundle includes a look at Jewish communities in Toronto and Montreal, to meet a new focus of the 2023 curriculum.
