This FRENCH VERSION of my original Canadian Government & Citizenship Unit for use with Google Slides™️ /Classroom™️ digital unit has been created as a companion resource for my Ontario Grade 5 Social Studies: Canadian Government and Citizenship unit. It works well for distance learning OR for students who require accommodations for their IEPs.
The student texts and tasks in this unit are in FRENCH, while any teacher notes are in English.
This resource can be shared through Google Classroom™️ or Google Slides™️. Students can type directly into the resource, and then share their work back with you! Directions are included on how to copy these files directly into your Google account. I hope this makes things easy for you, and super easy to share with your students!
This digital version of my Canadian Government and Citizenship unit supports the revised 2018 Ontario Social Studies Curriculum for Grade 5, Strand B. This inquiry based unit has been fully updated to meet all expectations, and allows students to work on social and environmental issues of interest to them. While a working towards a culminating task that allows students to explain how they feel different levels of government should handle or have handled an important issue, they are using various organizers to record their learning.
Students are able to:
- access video links and relevant website links for research purposes
- use Google Read & Write™️ to have texts read to them
- use copy and paste feature to help with tasks
- build upon pre-existing tech skills
***Please Note*** This digital resource does NOT contain the three-part lesson plans that are included in the full original unit.
The ENGLISH version of this digital unit is available here:

TEACHERS WHO HAVE USED THIS PRODUCT HAVE SAID: ♥ “This resource is excellent. I own Coach’s Corner’s unit on Government, and I’m glad that I purchased this too. I feel that my students are truly understanding the concepts of Government a lot better through distance education, and that’s thanks to this resource. I also feel it will be extremely beneficial when I am back into the classroom, working with students who need devices.” (Thanks, The Raudy Teacher)
♥ “This resource has been excellent for use during distance learning. The product is easy to use and provides excellent lessons and tasks for my students to do.” (Thanks, Jacquelyne B.)
♥ “GREAT RESOURCE! I LOVED IT!” (Thanks, Ilsse P.)
Here are some reasons I have created this digital resource:
✔reduces use of paper
✔students work directly in the file
✔preserve ideas and references
✔improves student writing
✔students can access from anywhere
✔students can use this resource on iPads, Chromebooks, and other devices
What will I need to assign this resource to my students?
You will require:
❶ Access to the internet
❷ A Google Drive Account
I already own your original Grade 5 Strand A Social Studies bundle. Why should I consider purchasing this digital version?
✔The digital resources completely align with the regular units. This makes it extremely easy to meet IEP accommodations for specific students with little effort on your part.
✔ The digital resources are paperless, which is perfect if your school administrator is asking you to cut down on photocopying!
✔ The saturated, full-colour interactive slides are engaging for students.
✔ It’s easy to implement with distance learning.
✔ It’s just fun to use!
Can I edit this resource?
I have left 95% of the texts in editable form for two reasons:
➀ to ensure that students are able to use Google Read & Write with the activities.
➁ to allow teachers to edit texts and tasks when they feel it suitable for their class or to address IEP accommodations for specific students.
How do I collect student work?
Your students will simply complete their own copies of the lessons, and turn it into your platform (ie. Google Classroom).
