This French Immersion version of my “Simply Stated Canadian Government and Citizenship” unit for Canadian Citizenship is a resource intended to support struggling readers as they learn about what citizenship means and how refugees and immigrants become Canadian citizens. It is written at a Grade 1 – 2 reading level, with both texts and tasks adapted for use with students who may be on an IEP or need differentiation from the regular class requirements. Lesson plans are provided in both French and English, while student sheets are in French only.
Please Note: The text and tasks contained in this resource are aligned with the “citizenship” section of my full unit, Canadian Government & Citizenship. Teachers who have previously purchased this unit will find that that the purchase of this ”Simply Stated” resource will provide them with texts that cover the same concepts as the full unit, but at a easier level for struggling students. NOTE: This larger unit is undergoing revision, and will be available as a translated version once the revision is complete.
This unit covers:
Citizenship
Coming to Canada (Refugees and Immigrants)
Immigration: Mock Interview
Canadian Citizenship Test
Citizenship/Reaffirmation Ceremony
I will be adding more Simply Stated resources for struggling readers in the coming months.
