This Canadian Bell Work for Grade 6 resource contains a daily question or prompt for students to complete each morning as the teacher handles attendance, homework, etc. Tasks are a mix of creative and more academic assignments, with some tasks adapted from provincial tests. There is a set of approximately 21 tasks for each month from August to June, with an extra “Summer” page with additional prompts.
Each month students receive one sheet with the entire month’s questions. I have students fold their paper in half and tuck it inside a notebook. Each day they note the date, and write their answers for that day’s question. We then discuss their answers together.
In order to reduce photocopying, you could instead write each day’s prompt on the board or interactive whiteboard!
