Are you a Grade 4-6 Canadian teacher looking for an interactive resource for your social studies program? Do you need to introduce or review the provinces and territories of this country? This Canada Virtual Field Trip for Use with Google Slides/Classroom™️ is perfect for distance learning or for students with accommodated IEPs.
What is a virtual field trip?
A virtual field trip is one in which students “visit” a location or multiple locations through the use of internet technology. Students are led from one province or territory to another, using internet links to watch videos, access Google Earth, find appropriate websites, etc.
What will I need to assign a virtual field trip to my class?
You will require:
❶ Access to the internet
❷ A Google account
❸ A platform to share this activity with your class, such as Google Classroom
Can I edit this resource?
I have left 95% of the text in editable form for two reasons:
➀ To ensure that students are able to use Google Read & Write with the tasks
➁ To allow teachers to edit text and tasks when they feel it suitable for their class or to accommodate specific IEP expectations.
How do I collect student work?
Your students will simply complete their own copy of the work, and turn it in to the platform (ie. Google Classroom).
What will my students learn?
As students “visit” each province or territory, they will learn about the landscape, landmarks, customs, and exciting tourist spots of each location.
When should I use this virtual field trip?
This activity is meant to be a fun and engaging activity that is perfect for reviewing the provinces and territories of Canada. While I might use it at the end of a unit, you could also use it to jump-start our study of this wonderful country.
