This cross-curricular book study, created for Grades 4-6 students, focuses on Patricia Polacco’s book, Bully. This book tells the story of a 6th grade student, Lyla, who learns that becoming part of the “in-crowd” at her new school is not the positive experience she hoped for. This literature unit provides a wide variety of activities and ideas to support student understanding of the book.
With cyberbullying at the center of this book, this literature unit engages students with a variety of meaningful activities, such as:
❶ Pre-Reading Activities
➋ Writing in Role
❸ Oral Communication (4 day mini-unit on “Debates”)
❹ Comprehension Questions
❻ Media Literacy (Facebook Activity)
